Who can purchase the JAPAN RAIL PASS?

1. You are a foreign tourist visiting Japan from abroad for sight-seeing, under the entry status of "temporary visitor."
2. You are a Japanese national living in a foreigncountry,
a. who is qualified to live permanently in that country, or
b. who is married to a non-Japanese residing in a country other than Japan.
Note: Persons meeting conditions a or b above must be required to show proof of same at the point of purchase of an Exchange Order and obtaining a JAPAN RAIL PASS.
Also note: The former condition about a Japanese national "who has been living in a foreign country for ten or more years" is from 1 April 2004 not valid.

This ticket is not available for purchase in Japan so you must buy your ticket before you travel.

We can also arrange regional passes (JR-West, JR-Hokkaido, JR Kyushu). Please contact us for prices.

The JAPAN RAIL PASS is not valid for any seats, reserved or non-reserved, on "NOZOMI" trains on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines. (The pass holders must take "HIKARI" or "KODAMA" trains.) If you use a "NOZOMI," you must pay the basic fare and the limited express charge, and for a Green Car the Green Car surcharge. In this case there is no discount because of JAPAN RAIL PASS.

On arriving in Japan your JR Pass Exchange Order can be exchanged for a JR Pass at most major stations including both terminals of Tokyo Narita International Airport and Osaka Kansai International Airport.

JR Pass Exchange Orders are valid for 3 months from the date of issue so we cannot issue Exchange Orders more than 3 months before the date you first want to use them.

Due to currency fluctuations, the exchange rate is recalculated on the 1st of every month so prices can change.

There will be an issuing charge of 20CHF per JR Pass. (If you buy the JR Pass together with an airticket the 20CHF issuing charge won't be charged.)

If you pay by Visa, MasterCard, Diners, JCB or Amex there will be a 3% surcharge. Debit cards are accepted free of charge so we'd rather you used a debit card or pay cash to give you more money to spend in Japan!

In case of cancellation 10% of the ticket price will be deducted and the issuing charge will not be reimbursed. There will also be a 20CHF cancellation charge.

If you purchase a Japan Railpass with us we will give you an English Timetable for whole Japan for free!
